Heart screening day held with Heartfelt Cardiac Projects

The Ken Carlson Jr. Memorial Foundation was proud to partner with Heartfelt Cardiac Projects to help bring greater awareness of heart health and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) to local student athletes.

The community heart screening day provided an opportunity for young athletes to receive non-invasive cardiac screenings designed to identify potential heart conditions that may otherwise go unnoticed.

Why Heart Screening Matters

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a genetic condition that causes abnormal thickening of the heart muscle. It can affect people of all ages and, in some cases, individuals may have few or no noticeable symptoms.

For young athletes, awareness and appropriate cardiac evaluation can be especially important. Screening may help identify signs of HCM and other cardiac conditions before symptoms become apparent, giving families and healthcare professionals an opportunity to take appropriate next steps.

Supporting Young Athletes

The Foundation is committed to supporting efforts that promote cardiomyopathy awareness, early detection, and education. Community screening events like this one help bring these important conversations directly to students, families, schools, and athletic communities.

By increasing awareness of potential warning signs and encouraging appropriate medical evaluation, we can help young athletes and their families make informed decisions about their heart health.

A Community Effort

The success of a screening event depends on the commitment of healthcare professionals, volunteers, schools, families, and community partners. We are grateful to Heartfelt Cardiac Projects for partnering with the Foundation and helping make this important awareness effort possible.

Our work to increase understanding of HCM and support cardiac screening is part of the Foundation’s broader mission to honor Ken Carlson Jr.’s memory through awareness, research, detection, and community support.

Bring Heart Screening to Your Community

If your school, athletic team, or organization is interested in hosting a heart screening event, we encourage you to reach out to the Ken Carlson Jr. Memorial Foundation to learn more about potential opportunities.

Together, we can continue creating greater awareness around cardiomyopathy and help encourage conversations about heart health among young athletes and their families.
